We offer different group options to fit your needs

  1. First: determine which groups match your age.

  2. Next, decide whether you will swim with us (“Swim with us”), or swim with your primary swim club and/or summer league team (“Swim Elsewhere”).

  3. Finally, for ages 13 and older, choose whether you wish to race draft legal races in addition to regular races.

  4. Requirement for any group: All athletes coming to FFT must be able to swim at least 50 meters continuously without assistance.

FireFly Light (FFL): Athletes ages 9-11.

Option 1: Swim with us: four (4) total practices per week - Monday (swim/dryland), Tuesday (bike/run), Wednesday (swim/dryland), Friday (bike/run).

Option 2: Swim elsewhere: two (2) total practices per week - Tuesday (bike/run), Friday (bike/run).

Tuesday workouts are mixed with whole group; Friday workout is FFL group only cycling focused (and some run) with Coach Pat.

FireFly Flames (FFF): Athletes 12 - 18.

Option 1: Swim with us: six (6) total practices per week - Monday (swim/dryland), Tuesday (bike/run), Wednesday (swim/dryland), Thursday (bike/run), Friday (swim/dryland or run), Saturday (bike/run).

Option 2: Swim elsewhere: three to four (3-4) practices per week. Swim with your team, and then train with us - Tuesday (bike/run), Thursday (bike/run), and, Saturday (bike/run). You are also welcome and encouraged to come to any open water swim session we do in lieu of a pool swim and/or any Friday run training.

FireFly Elite (FFE): Athletes 13-18, who wish to also race draft-legal.

Option 1: Swim with us: six (6) total practices per week - Monday (swim/dryland), Tuesday (bike/run), Wednesday (swim/dryland), Thursday (bike/run), Friday (swim/dryland or run), Saturday (bike/run).

Option 2: Swim elsewhere: three to four (3-4) practices per week. Swim with your team, and then train with us - Tuesday (bike/run), Thursday (bike/run), and, Saturday (bike/run). You are also welcome and encouraged to come to any open water swim session we do in lieu of a pool swim and/or any Friday run training.

Draft-Legal athletes will be encouraged to use Training Peaks to communicate with Coach Mandy about their training, particularly including the days they will be absent from FFT practice. If needed, we will provide directed training for remote workouts.

Note: All athletes must register for USA Triathlon and purchase a one-year youth membership.
